China Still Ready for Diplomatic Talks over Iran΄s Nuclear Issue
Local Editor 20-04-2010
Chinese Foreign Ministry announced today that it is still willing to continue looking for diplomatic solution for the Iranian nuclear issue, through negotiations, despite current ones between power countries over setting new sanctions on Iran.
Jiang Yu, Chinese Minister's Spokeswoman said that the six permanent countries in the Security Council (SC), which China is one of, are discussing the elements of a SC draft resolution, where the US suggested new sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the other hand, Beijing confirmed that it is still hoping to reach a diplomatic solution through negotiations with Tehran, considering that negotiations are the best way to solve the Iranian nuclear issue.
Diplomats remind that China's representative to the UN recently showed discontent regarding suggested sanctions, which harm Iran's nuclear program. China fears those sanctions would affect Iranian-Chinese relations, especially that Iran is considered to be China's main oil backer.
