Clinton: No Solution to Irans Case without Sanctions
Local Editor
While international efforts are on the run to achieve diplomatic solutions over Iran's nuclear issue, the US Secretary of State made remarks over the Brazilian mediation efforts, that they are no more than an "uphill struggle".
Clinton's remarks came after Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared a visit to Tehran next Sunday, which aims at discussing the nuclear fuel swap deal, where Iran is supposed to ship most of the low-enriched uranium it contains abroad, in order to be converted into fuel rods for its Tehran medical research reactor.
Lula expressed in a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, that upcoming talks in Iran would eventually "revive the stalled UN-backed deal".
US's Hillary Clinton showed doubt that Lula would manage affective results in his mediations regarding Iran's nuclear issue, claiming that new round of UNSC sanctions on Iran would enough to take action.
In a joint press conference with her British counterpart, William Hague on Friday, Clinton said, "I believe we will not get any serious response out of the Iranians until after the Security Council acts".
The US has been trying heavily to force a fourth round of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program, claiming that it is planning nuclear weaponry and bombs.
Iran regularly confirms that its nuclear program is completely peaceful, and it is abiding its rights to enrich uranium for technological developments.
