In an interview with Al Hayat newspaper, Syrian president Bashar Assad considered that rising up Syrian stances is due to the American and other mediators' realization that a solution between Palestine and the enemy is impossible.

He clarified that there is also no "Israeli" solution with Syria because of the current extremist Zionist government.

Assad considered that the enemy might attempt to erupting war with Iran and maybe with Syria and Lebanon to renounce from his commitment to a compromise.

He added that the military maneuvers, massing on borders, and threats, do not mean war, yet the calmness and absence of soldiers does not mean peace either.

Responding to a question about the international tribunal case, Assad said that Syria dealt with the investigation committees in a positive way.

He added, "I am certain that the tribunal will prove that we are not related to the issue, they tried to use it for political achievements and they failed," clarifying that Syria's relation with Hizbullah is in confronting "Israel", as for Lebanon, its affairs remain national and are dealt with internally.

Regarding Lebanese-Syrian relations, Assad considered that Saad Hariri is dealing positively with Syria, and is supported by the Arab and international world, and this should be applied in actions.

As for internal Lebanese affairs, Assad assured that the official Lebanese visits to Syria do not cover internal Lebanese matters, as he prefers not to discuss them.

President Assad suggested that Hariri should communicate and cooperate with Hizbullah as his father used to do.

As for Syrian-Iranian relations, Assad revealed that all western proposals to Syria are concluded with an urge to end relations with Iran. However, President Bashar Assad assured his resistance of these Western threats and proposals.
