The US War Minister, Robert Gates warned yesterday of a possible "Israeli" attack on Iran. During a meeting with his counterparts of the Atlantic Alliance in Brussels, Gates referred that Iran might be able to possess an amount of uranium, which would be enough to construct a nuclear bomb in almost three years, according to intelligence firms.

Gates stressed that the time taken to construct the bomb does not include the making of the missiles or developing it.

"Most people believe that Iran is not capable of constructing nuclear weapons before at least a year or two", US War Minister said.

On another hand, Gates expected that the US and "Israel" will hold tight negotiations, regarding the new UN Security Council forced sanctions on Iran.

In this context, Robert Gates revealed his disappointment of the Turkish vote against the new sanctions on Iran. "Despite that, Turkey is an ally of the US, is still part of the Atlantic Alliance since decades, and still plays an important role in the alliance", Gates said.

Recalling the Turkish-US relations, US War Minister said that Washington has strong defense relations with Ankara, in addition to the presence of military bases in Turkish lands.

After the "Israeli" attacks on Gaza, the Turkish stance has been pro-Palestinian and anti-"Israeli", also against all allays of "Israel", including the United States.
