Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki is supposed to address the D8 (developing nations) summit in Abuja the capital of Nigeria on Tuesday. IRNA reported.
Mottaki's proposal would aim at expanding relations with member countries, which are: Islamic Republic of Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Turkey.
This year's D8 Ministerial Assembly will discuss issues concerning investments between the member countries, establishing joint economic firms, expanding tourism, banking, transportation, energy, scientific and technological cooperation fields.
According to the Nigerian Foreign Minister, Iranian and Turkish Presidents will be attending the D8 summit, and are to arrive to Nigeria this week.
Countries other than those 8 member countries will be able to attend, with representatives of ministerial positions, according to Nigerian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ozo Nwobu.
The G8 holds a two-year rotational chairmanship, which was now given to Nigeria after Malaysia.
As Preparations for the summit take place, Nigerian foreign affairs permanent secretary Martin Uhomoibhi said: "The Nigerian chair is committed to ensuring that the various challenges facing the organization are effectively addressed".
