The Islamic Republic of Iran agreed with Turkey on establishing a free industrial zone on their common borders within this year, to strengthen industrial cooperation between the two countries and develop their regional borders.

This decision came in conclusion to the meeting held between Iranian associate Vice President Agha Mohammadi and the Turkish Industry and Trade Minister Nihat Ergun.

After the meeting on Thursday, Mohammadi assured that the measures the two countries agreed on for establishing this zone, successfully continue in the light of the increase in industrial and trade exchange and cooperation.

Mohammadi expected that the studies will be completed this year, revealing that Iran has opened new border crossings to meet the increased trade, and will be opening another crossing in upcoming three months.

On the other hand, the Turkish Minister pointed out that Turkish artistic committees have completed studies around this industrial zone and will be cooperating with Iran to put a final executive plan.

Ergun clarified that the two countries are studying the appropriate location for this industrial zone, which will be announced by the end of July.
