Turkey: Power Countries Should Consider Diplomatic Efforts with Iran
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated that there is a chance for the Islamic Republic of Iran to exchange nuclear oil upon an agreement Turkey achieved between Brazil and Iran last May. Meanwhile, Tehran suggested that the European Union resumes talks concerning this issue in September.
During a speech he delivered in Chatham House Research Center in London, Davutoglu considered that the power countries should consider diplomatic efforts instead of confrontation.
He indicated that the efforts of Turkey and Brazil did not fail saying, "We proved to the world that with diplomacy we could achieve something, the real problem was that nobody expected Turkey and Brazil to convince Iran of signing this paper, therefore it was hard to adapt with the new stance."
The European Union, after the US, has been frequently trying to impose new sanction on Iran over its nuclear program.
