N.Y Times: US Assures “Israel” That Iran Threat Is Not Imminent
Local Editor
US-based New York Times reported Thursday from a Senior US official, that his country convinced "Israel" that Iran needs at least one year to build a "dash" for a nuclear weapon, according to Obama administration official.
Gary Samore, President Obama's top adviser on nuclear issues, said, "We think that they have roughly a year dash time", referring to how long it would take the Iranians to convert nuclear material into a working weapon. "A year is a very long period of time", US President's nuclear advisor said.
In this context, "Israeli" intelligence believe that Iran is capable of completing a nuclear bomb race in months, while the US intelligence believe Iran would need a longer timeline.
The newspaper added that US officials believed that international inspectors would take action detecting Iranian moves within weeks, where the US and "Israel" would have some more time to consider any military strike.
