Saudi King Undergoes Successful Surgery in US

Saudi King Abdullah successfully underwent back surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital, according to a palace statement carried by the state-run news agency on Wednesday.

The king had "a back surgery, in which the blood clot was extracted, the slipped disc was corrected, and the injured vertebrae was stabilized in Presbyterian Hospital in the United States of America," the Saudi Press Agency quoted the statement as saying.

On its part, the White House mentioned that S President Barack Obama called the Saudi King wishing him well-being soon. He also reiterated the importance of bilateral relations between the two countires.
