Egyptian security sources revealed that Egyptian authorities alerted the Syrian and Lebanese governments to the existence of "Israeli" spy rings. According to "Al Arab Al Qatariya" newspaper, intelligence cooperation has been taking place between Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon which led to the uncovering of "Israeli" espionage rings in the telecommunications sector in the three countries, of which an Egypt-based "Israeli" espionage ring was exposed earlier this week.

The sources also mentioned that a Syria-based spy ring will be declared soon. These sources said also that the in confessions to police, alleged spy (of the Egypt-based ring) for "Israel" Tarek Abdel Razek Hussein, referred to these networks. In his confession, Hussein said that a senior Syrian security agent has been also collaborating with the "Israeli" enemy. He further revealed the existence of another spy ring operating in Syria in the telecommunications sector of which the Syrian authorities will announce following its investigations.

Hussein also confessed to having attempted to recruit Syrian and Lebanese nationals working in the telecommunications sector for "Israel". Egyptian authorities have reportedly passed the names of those he had contacted on to the Syrian and Lebanese authorities.

Moreover, the prosecution said Hussein, while overseas, agreed with the "Israeli" suspects to work for "Israel's" Mossad and to provide information about Egyptian officials working in the field of communications, in order to pick out potential collaborators.

The prosecution also said Hussein carried out an act of aggression against Syria and Lebanon that threatened to sever diplomatic relations between the two countries. He is alleged to have agreed to provide reports and information about some Lebanese and Syrian figures.

In this context, Retired Major General Dr. Hicham Jaber and Head of Middle East Center for Studies and Public Relations told moqawama.org that there is a relation between the Egyptian network and the networks discovered in Lebanon, adding that "Israel" will try all means and methods to spy on its target country.

"The Egyptian network, according to the Egyptian agent's testimonies, aimed at recruiting Lebanese spies for the "Israeli" Mossad, especially in the telecoms network", Dr, Hicham Jaber reminded.

Egypt uncovered a spy ring in which the Mossad used an Egyptian businessman and two "Israelis" to recruit Egyptian, Syrian, and Lebanese telecoms experts as well as company owners, in order to execute intelligence operations in Syria after meeting with Mossad agents there.
The Egyptian spy, who led to the other revelations, is Tareq Abdel Razeq Hussein Hassan, a 37-year-old owner of an import-export firm, arrested in August.
