Egyptian Court to Put “Israeli” Spy Ring on Trial
An Egyptian court will try an "Israeli" spy ring on Jan. 15, local media reported Sunday.
The spy ring included a 37-year-old Egyptian, Tarek Abdel Razek Hussein, and two "Israelis" who were still on the run.
The spy has confessed that he had recruited agents for "Israel's" Mossad intelligence agency with the two "Israelis", according to Egypt news website.
On its part, Al Ahram Online website said that the security is finalizing the investigation of the spy ring while the two "Israelis" will be tried in absence.
Investigations revealed that the spy ring had succeeded in establishing two communications office in Cairo and London, through which they recorded telephone calls of Egyptian government officials and transferred the information to "Israel".
Also, according to Al Ahram online, a source in the Syrian foreign ministry said that after the uncovering of the espionage ring, Egypt handed over to Damascus a dossier of sensitive technical information relating to Syria's nuclear program, including the project's maps and strategic positions and means of obtaining nuclear materials.
The file has been a rich source of details for the discovery of an "Israel" spy network in Syria. The most outstanding piece of information handed over by Egypt to the Syrians concerned an "Israeli" mole, a high ranking member of Damascus' security apparatus, who had been collaborating with "Israel" for the past thirteen years.
On Sunday, the Egyptian newspaper, Al Masri Al Yom said that investigations into the spying case of Tarek Abdul Razek, unveiled a new Egyptian spy who has been working for "Israel's" Mossad for the past 20 years.
According to the newspapers, Abdul-Razek said that the new spy was known by the Israelis as ‘Ustaz' Arabic for ‘mister or teacher' was still at large in Beijing, China and that he has so far succeeded in recruiting hundreds of Egyptians to work for the Israeli Mossad.
Abdul-Razek, the newspaper noted, admitted that he had learned from a Mossad officer operating "Eddie Moshe" - who used to be in Abdul-Razek's same spy ring - that the Israeli intelligence was behind cutting Egyptian internet cables in the Mediterranean, a few kilometers off the Italian coast, a year and a half ago.
