Millions of visitors flow to Karbala, Southern of the Iraqi capital Baghdad for Arbaeen commemoration ceremonies, which mark 40 days since the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUP).
Hundreds of millions of Iraqis arrive to Karbala by foot after walking for extremely long distances to reach the sacred city despite all the threats of terrorist groups which targets the Shiites on this occasion.
According to the deputy governor of Najaf Razak Mohsen Sharif, more than 7 million visitors are expected this year, including Iraqis, Arabs, and foreigners, to visit the sacred shrine of Imam Hussein on the Arbaeen.
Meanwhile, Car bombs killed six people and wounded 30 in and around Baghdad on Sunday, according to an Iraqi interior ministry official.
One car bomb on Sunday targeted a police patrol in Al Alam neighborhood of southwest Baghdad killing two people, including one policeman, and wounding eight other people, among them four police, the official said.
Another vehicle packed with explosives was detonated on Abu Nawas street, on the banks of the Tigris river which snakes through the capital, leaving one person dead and six people wounded.
And in north Baghdad neighborhood of Kadhimiyah, a car bomb struck a bus carrying Iranian visitors, according to the interior ministry official. One of the visitors was killed and eight were wounded in the 10:00 am blast.
In a separate car bomb attack, four people were wounded, including a policeman, in the commercial Karrada district in the centre of Baghdad. And on a main road in the town of Taji, north of the capital, a bomb-filled vehicle was blown up, killing two people and wounding four.
