Mubarak Fears More Turmoil if He Steps Down, Says Obama Does Not Understand Egyptian Culture
Egyptian President Husni Mubarak held the Muslim Brotherhood the responsibility for the violence that took place in the Tahrir square. Meanwhile, he said his government is free of guilt when it comes to the riot and violence that took place.
"I do not care what people will say about me, I only care about my country Egypt. I intend to give up power in the face of protests, but I fear there will be more turmoil if he steps down now," Mubarak said.
Mubarak, in an interview with ABC on Thursday, reiterated that he was getting weary of being president and wanted to abandon power, but fears his resignation will unleash a fresh wave of upheaval in the country.
"I am fed up but I will not run away. I will die on the soil of my country," Mubarak said adding "I see that the US President Obama does not understand Egyptian culture and does not know what will happen if I step down now."
