President Assad: Peoples of the Region Proved to Be Capable of Purchasing Reform, Refusing Foreign Interference

Syrian President Bashar Assad confirmed that the people of the nation are capable of reforming, and refuses foreign interference, calling upon the European countries to conduct an overall review of their policies regarding the region's affairs.

This came while President Assad received Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini.

After their meeting, a Syrian Presidential statement was issued, stating that President Assad and Minister Frattini discussed bilateral relations between both countries, in addition to the latest developments witnessed by the region, especially regarding the Tunisian and Egyptian revolutions.

Bashar Assad referred during the meeting to the importance of conducting overall reviews to the international policies in general, and the European policies in precise concerning the major issues of the region.

The Syrian President stated the peoples of the region proved they are capable of purchasing reform, in addition to refusing foreign interferences.

On his part, Minister Franco Frattini believed that the stability in the region is major for the stability of Europe and the globe.

He also called for building mutual trust between the countries of the Mediterranean through launching programs that enhance communication, with respecting the culture of each nation and sovereignty of each country.
