Turkish President Abdullah Gull announced on Thursday the Egyptian Army's will to pave their way towards a constitutional democracy in Egypt, after the collapse of Hosni Mubarak's regime.

In a press conference he held in the Turkish Embassy of Cairo in presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan, and after his meeting with head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and Defense Minister Mushir Hussein Al Tantawi, Gul stated, "The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces once again affirmed its will to pilot a democratic transition".

He added, "I have closely observed that Marshal Tantawi and his friends have seen the expectations and demands of the Egyptian people and youth and they say they will do what is needed in a short period of time".

Turkish President affirmed that this process of transition should end in a way to satisfy all the expectations of Egyptian people.

"Egypt should switch to a democratic, parliamentary and constitutional system and Egypt should become the strongest state in the region and its people the happiest people, after the process is over", Gul further added.

President Abdullah Gul pointed out that it is not enough to have a strong army in order for a country to be strong.

In this context, he addressed the Egyptian Army stating, "You need a strong political system supported by the people and participatory democracy and a strong economy".
Gul stated that his visit to Egypt aims at affirming his country's authorities' and people's solidarity with the Egyptian people.

Concerning the "Israeli" enemy, the Turkish President said that "Israel" should analyze all uprisings witnessed in the whole region, adding that the commitment of the Arab nations to their uprisings should as well be pointed out.
