Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi described Iran's stance toward the regional developments as "transparent," confirming "that the Syrian government is working to meet the demands of the Syrian people and that the situation began to improve as Syian President Bashar al- Assad promised."

In a statement to "Mehr" Iranian Agency, Salehi stated, "the Islamic Republic has a principle position that in any country in the world, whether in Bahrain, Libya or other countries people's legitimate demands must be fulfilled."

Pointing to "the need to distinguish between the popular uprisings and few movements in some countries supported by some groups to exploit the atmosphere of popular revolts occurring in the region, as in the Syrian case, Salehi condemned Western positions to the situation in Libya.

"Iran is studying a proposal on Libya with a number of friendly countries and if it is reached in the future, we will announce it," the Iranian minister concluded.
