Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri confirmed that there is "no escapes from reopening the false witnesses issue and tackling it, especially that the tribunal [Special Tribunal for Lebanon] acknowledged Lebanon's Judiciary's authority to pursue those who misled the investigations".

In an interview with as-Safir newspaper, he added, "If some people do not want to listen to Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and to those who are calling for prosecuting the false witnesses, let them then listen to the STL itself".
Also, Speaker Berri stressed on the necessity to expedite the appointment of the Supreme Judicial Council Chairman, so that the false witnesses file takes its natural course of examination.

On the level of STL funding, and whether it would activate the productivity of the government, Speaker Berri affirmed, "there wasn't any excuse for the poor productivity, and as the parliament, we will conduct our censorship in this regard, and we will not hesitate to prosecute the government if needed".

On another hand, Lebanese Speaker reiterated that "the oil file should be assigned as an urgent priority of the government", reaffirming that it's necessary to issue decrees in this regard before the end of this year.
