Mansour to Libya: Imam Sadrs’ Fate, Bilateral Relations

Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour headed Wednesday a delegation to Libya in an attempt to uncover the fate of Imam Moussa al-Sadr and his two companions as well as to turn the black page of the past in the Lebanese-Libyan ties.

At Beirut's International airport, Mansour stressed to reporters that "this is the first official visit of a Lebanese foreign minister to Libya after several decades."
"We seek to both unveil the truth of Imam Sadr and his companions' fate as well as to turn the past black page in the Lebanese-Libyan relations," he confirmed.
In response to a question about the developments that took place after the visit of the Director-General of the expatriates two months ago to Libya, Mansour stated that "the delegation held talks with Libyan officials and received advanced steps, and this visit comes in the context of the previous visit, and we hope to reach a positive result in this regard."

In regard to the diplomatic representation between Libya and Lebanon in the future, the Minister noted to the existence of diplomatic representation between Lebanon and Libya, but at the level of Chargé d'affaires."

"I do not doubt that when we uncover the truth by reaching the desired result, we will open a new page new with Libya, especially as the Libyan officials have declared repeatedly their readiness to deepen relations at various levels between Libya and Lebanon," Mansour added.
