Rabbi Ovidia: Mubarak Asked for My Blessings 28 Years Ago, He Loves “Israel”

"Israeli" Rabbi Ovadia Yosef revealed last Saturday that he is "praying for a verdict of innocence for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who asked him to bless him when the rabbi visited him in Cairo with several requests 28 years ago", the Zionist website Arutz Sheva reported.

Moreover, Ovadia indicated that Mubarak has asked him for his blessing in a private meeting after promising the first to "re-route a planned highway in order not to desecrate Jewish graves".

The former Zionist Chief Rabbi narrated, "When I was chief rabbi 28 years ago, I was told that Egyptian engineers were planning a highway that would plow through a Jewish cemetery where rabbinic sages are buried". "Mubarak told the rabbi that changing the route would cost a lot of money but that he would so", Arutz Sheva further quoted the Rabbi as saying.
According to the website, Rabbi Ovadia also said that at the end of his meeting with Mubarak, the latter ordered everyone out of the room and told the rabbi, "Please bless me. I believe in your blessings".
