President Suleiman: We are Keen on National Dialogue, Diplomatic Solution in Syria

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman reiterated his position to continue his efforts in order to carry on dialogue between all parties.
Suleiman stressed that he will seek maintaining the safety and unity of the Lebanese and the welfare of their livelihood, in order to reach a joint defense strategy to protect Lebanon. He also hoped that "crises would be resolved without violence".
After receiving a delegation from the Lebanese diplomatic corps in the Baabda Palace, the Lebanese President confirmed that Lebanon's interest lies in the Arab initiative's success to resolve the Syrian crisis; which has hindered its economic growth during the past months.
Moreover, Suleiman highlighted the close relations between Lebanon and Syria, referring to the importance of providing the needed conditions to achieve a joint Arab-work.
Also, President Suleiman added, "Lebanon is following up the issue regarding the increase of tension in the Gulf region, and hopes that logic, dialogue, and diplomatic solutions would take over. Lebanon hopes that Iraq would follow policies that would provide its unity and independence".
Furthermore, he stated, "Lebanon was able to maintain its stability, avoid the repercussions of the international financial crisis, and attract more investments".
"The government was able to implements part of what it has promised in its ministerial statement", President Suleiman noted.
In this context, Suleiman confirmed that Lebanon will hold on to its rights in oil and natural gas drilling, further denouncing the constant assaults against the UNIFIL troops.
Suleiman reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to implementing resolution 1701, calling upon the international community to continue its "support in providing the necessary funds to remove the cluster bombs and oil spill caused by the enemy".
On another hand, tackling the Palestinian issue, Suleiman believed that the justice spirit calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
"Lebanon has done extra efforts to accredit more concern regarding the livelihood of the Palestinian refugees", Suleiman said. He also clarified that Lebanon refuses to nationalize the Palestinian refugees, believing that they have the right to return to their homeland.
"What the Arab world is witnessing of transitions requires duplicated efforts to find a solution for the Middle East crisis, on the basis of Arab initiative", the Lebanese President stated.
