Lebanese Army Commander General Michel Suleiman met with senior officers and commanders at his office in Yarze to inform them of the "Israeli" threats against Lebanon and its massacre of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Suleiman also called for the army to exhibit the highest level of readiness in order to face any developments and to defend Lebanese soil, especially South Lebanon.
He also called on the army to carry on its efforts in preserving stability and internal security. "The army's primary objective is to prevent the 'Israeli' enemy from occupying Lebanon or use it as a passage to aggress other Arabs," Sleiman said.
The army commander reiterated his insistence that the Lebanese army, along with the people and the resistance, stand up to any "Israeli" aggression.
"Defending one's land is a right consecrated by all international conventions and is a national priority that is worth joining efforts over," he added.
"We will not tolerate the occupation of the South. Abandoning the South means abandoning Lebanon," Suleiman added.
