GAZA STRIP--Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has warned the 'Israeli' occupying regime that the movement will retaliate any strike on Palestine.
Ismaeil Ridhwan, a senior leader of the Islamic movement in the Gaza Strip told Alalam Thursday that the movement would hold the 'Israeli' regime responsible for any incursion into the West Bank and Gaza Strip and warned it of the consequences.
The remarks came after the Zionist Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stepped up anti-Hamas threats, saying the occupying regime would continue its hostile attacks on the Islamic movement.
Olmert vowed to deal in "painful ways" with the Islamic resistance movement Hamas in order to stop attacks from the Gaza Strip.
Ridhwan said the Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas should shun direct talks with the 'Israeli' regime, since "the talks not only have not yielded results so far, but will result in further regressions."
When asked why the occupying regime has been slow to remove restrictions on movement for Palestinians in the West Bank, Olmert said a single major attack in occupied Al-Quds or Tel Aviv could "ruin the entire process.''
Recent polls have shown a majority of both 'Israelis' and Palestinians to be deeply skeptical about peace efforts.
The polls also show that Abbas and his Fatah movement have been losing ground to Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since last June.
