MP Marwan Fares said that the Lebanese government missed "the opportunity to reformulate Syrian-Lebanese relations" and the opportunity to "make Lebanon's voice heard" before the Arab leaders "who provided an initiative for a settlement in Lebanon, which was continuously blocked."
After meeting with the Cypriot chargé d'affaires in Lebanon, Fares said that dividing Lebanon was not in the interest of the Lebanese people but in the interest of the Lebanese authority and its followers.
Fares noted the importance of convening the Arab Summit in Damascus and the participation of Arab leaders in solidarity. He also called for Arab solidarity in the face of ongoing 'Israeli' aggressions against the Palestinian people and the American aggressions against the Iraqi people, adding he believed that "the mere convening of the summit in Damascus" was a success against American schemes.
