Lebanese newspapers on Friday discussed several topics, most important of which was the speech delivered by Hizbullah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah during the commemoration of the annual Day of the Wounded in which he determined the rules of engagement in face of the American war of attrition, the formation of Daesh and al-Nusra and their tools, and explained the approach of the resistance party in the Lebanese elections.
Also, newspapers tackled the first reaction of Hizbullah which issued a statement on the US sanctions on banks in Lebanon and addressed the problem at the cabinet.
AL-BINAA: US-"Israeli" War of Attrition against Resistance
Al-Binaa Lebanese daily on Friday said that Hizbullah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah decided to deliver a speech at a very sensitive stage in terms of the Syria war, in which he drew the rules of engagement adopted by the resistance in confronting the latest developments in the region.
According to the paper, "Sayed Nasrallah determined the rules of engagement that indicate that the resistance will remain steadfast in face of the attrition war that is directly supported by the United States, which also stands behind the formation of the terrorist groups Daesh, al-Nusra and their tools as part of a planned war since a while," indicating that "such a war aims at making up for the losses inflicted on the US and "Israel" in its direct wars."
During the speech Sayed Nasrallah delivered, he said that "The US and its allies in the region nurtured the Takfiri terrorist and bariatric groups to our region so that they would destroy the Resistance, its spirit and will."
AL-JOMHOURIA: Hizbullah Rejects US Sanctions on Banking Sector
Parliamentary Affairs State Minister Mohammed Fneish said that Hizbullah's position is "clear" regarding US sanctions against the group, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Friday.
Fneish, who made his statement in wake of the suspension of the bank accounts of two of the party's MPs on Thursday, told al-Jomhouria "We will give Prime Minister Tammam Salam time to consider this matter and we will declare our stance when the time comes."
The Cabinet tasked on Thursday Prime Minister Tammam Salam to follow up on the US financial sanctions imposed on Hezbollah, with Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil and Central Bank governor Riad Salameh to assist him.
AS-SAFIR: "Israeli"-Lebanese-Arab Lobby in Washington Working against Lebanon's Resistance Party
Industry Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc warned at a cabinet meeting on Thursday that "a red line has been crossed" when two Lebanese banks suspended three accounts of the party's MPs in conformity with a US sanctions law, said As-Safir newspaper on Friday.
According to the paper, Hizbullah's Loyalty to the Resistance bloc said that US sanctions on banks that knowingly do business with the group could threaten Lebanon's financial sector, adding that the central bank and other banks would be taking part in a war of elimination against the Lebanese party by applying the law.
Earlier, Salameh had stated that the bank will abide by the restrictions in the Hizbullah International Financing Prevention Act signed into law in December.
Concerned sources quoted the Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri as saying "unfortunately, we have some who have become more American and Zionist in Lebanon that the Americans and Israelis themselves."
Sources also revealed that "there is an "Israeli-Lebanese-Arab" lobby working in Washington on daily basis and with direct supervision from the Foreign Ministry Offices of the Emirates and Saudi Arabia," adding that "the Emirati ambassador to Washington Youssef al-Otaiba along with some Lebanese political figures play a major role in following up on major steps and decisions made at the US congress and US Treasury."
