Member of the Loyalty to the resistance parliamentary bloc Minister Mohammad Fneish was interviewed by Al-Manar TV this morning. During the interview he declared the following:
Minister Fneish: The nature of internal balances means that no party can revoke its commitment to the Doha Agreement unless it wants to drive Lebanon to a situation where the agreement over recreating the authority and enhancing state institutions is eliminated.
Minister Fneish: The Doha Agreement is an accord of partnership and includes the election of a president, the formation of a government and the adoption of an electoral law. Obstructing it will keep the country in a state of paralysis, and I don't think there is a party that can bear responsibility for that.
Minister Fneish: The Doha Agreement says that the president must be elected first, but we elected him as part of a package deal, and this means that no one can obstruct the other clauses of the agreement.
Minister Fneish: The Shiaa are represented by the opposition, and the Christians are represented by General Aoun. Therefore, the opposition has the right to get two sovereign ministries. The majority suggested that the president's share should be two ministers, and the opposition reacted positively and proposed that the ministers be one Muslim and one Christian.
Minister Fneish: The majority wants to reduce General Aoun's political clout, but the opposition will not allow this, as it would go against the entire country's interests.
Minister Fneish: The opposition has not yet raised the matter of its candidates for the government. Let nobody hide behind the president or force him to take sides.
Minister Fneish: The US is not sparing any efforts to interfere in Lebanon's internal affairs. It is obvious that it wants to gain influence with the army and try to change its military doctrine and pit it against the opposition.
