Minister Mohammad Fneish said that the Resistance's weapons are not related to the Shibaa Farms. "In spite of our welcoming of any form of liberation for the Shibaa Farms, there is still our defense strategy, which has been in place for a long time, even before the matter of the farms was raised," Fneish said after meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Lebanon Aud Lise Norheim.
"The defense strategy can be worked out through internal dialogue and ending foreign interference. At the same time, the solution to the problem of the [weapons of the] Resistance should be rethought, while taking into consideration the suffering of the southerners," he added.
Fneish said that the incidents in Beirut in May have been exaggerated. "Resistance supporters were defending themselves, and the Resistance was defending itself against the decisions of the government; the level of causalities and damages in Tripoli and the Bekaa are the proof of this," Fneish said.
He also said that the expected prisoner swap deal between "Israel" and Hizbullah has nothing to do with the political developments in the region. "We think that the Syrian-"Israeli" talks require time," Fneish added.
