The Resistance’s purpose is defending Lebanon

Hizbullah International Relations Officer Nawwaf Al-Moussawi said that Hizbullah's actions in May in Beirut and the Mountain following the government's decision to declare the party's private telecommunications network illegal were in self-defense.
"The party had warned after the [January] Mar Mikhael incidents that it would retaliate to any fire directed against it," Moussawi told NOW Lebanon.
"The talk of the Resistance invading Beirut is nothing but lies aimed at concealing the reality of the coup that was prepared to betray to Resistance," he added.
Moussawi said that there was a plan to isolate Beirut's southern suburbs from the capitol and the Bekaa, which was "being prepared by putting armed factions under the cover of security companies. These factions were deployed to surround Speaker Nabih Berri's house and some other regions under opposition control," he said.
Commenting on the establishment of the next government, Moussawi noted the opposition's latest suggestion of giving the Change and Reform bloc, headed by MP Michel Aoun, either the Telecommunications or Justice Ministry in addition to the post of the deputy prime minister.
"The majority is implementing a foreign decision aimed at delaying the establishment of the government," Moussawi added.
He also noted that the opposition outlined in its latest meeting a general vision of its solution to the present crisis, and "the situation will not remain as such."
Moussawi slammed Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, accusing him of being dependant on MP Saad Hariri. "Geagea had no role in Doha, as his decisions came from [MP] Saad Hariri."
"The discussions were held with General Aoun, who managed to redress in several electoral districts the rights of Christians."
Commenting on the matter of the Shibaa Farms, Moussawi said, "The purpose of the Resistance is and has always been the liberation of occupied Lebanese land and the protection of Lebanon."
"We will not wait for anyone's permission in this regard," he added.
