Wahhab: Areslan discussed possible reconciliation between Jumblatt and opposition
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 13-9-2008
Former Minister Wiam Wahhab told NEW TV on Saturday that Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Areslan had discussed the possibility of reconciliation with Democratic Gathering bloc leader MP Walid Jumblatt with the opposition, because he could not initiate this step without consulting them. Wahhab added that Areslan remained a political ally of the opposition, and that Areslan was aiming to convince Jumblatt to join him.
Wahhab said that he did not participate in Sheikh Saleh Aridi's funeral because of the many people who were there who had actually treated Aridi "unjustly," and due to security concerns.
