Raad: The Resistance has proved it is able to protect Lebanon and achieve success
Source: nowlebanon.com, 14-09-2008
Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad said that the Resistance is heading to the national dialogue with the intention of strengthening national unity and protecting the country. "The Resistance, in its strategy, has proved that it is able to protect Lebanon and achieve successes," he said during an Iftar dinner at Nabatiyeh on Saturday.
"We either discuss this strategy on the basis of recognizing its success, or we discuss an alternative strategy which we would consider on the basis of its content and act accordingly. We are invited to the upcoming dialogue, and we hope that the conditions allow a productive, peaceful dialogue for everyone who really wants to protect Lebanon," Raad said.
Raad added that it was the right of the Resistance to defend itself, and in doing this they were not launching wars but performing their duty of defending their land and rights. "We theoretically discuss this issue, but the answer is already there and clear," he said.
Raad added that whoever wanted to discuss the national defense strategy must first clarify who is Lebanon's enemy. "Do we want a defense strategy that protects Lebanon from its enemies or one that protects it from its brothers?" he asked.
Raad added that this has repercussions for the intelligence apparatus and security forces.
"Throughout the last three years, the security situation in the country was ill-conceived, since the main concern of the security forces was to confront the opposition and its allies, rather than ‘Israel'. We witnessed a series of assassinations and crimes committed against diverse Lebanese leaders in the service of non-Lebanese interests," he said.
