Saheli: The most important issue is Lebanon΄s defense, not Hizbullah΄s weapons
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 14-9-2008
Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawwar Saheli said in a statement released on Sunday that he hoped that the coming national dialogue would be useful. He added that all parties must recognize that what matters is not Hizbullah's weapons, but the defense of Lebanon.
Saheli said that participants in the upcoming national dialogue, which will commence on September 16, must realize that whoever wants a true national defense strategy must agree on the principle that they benefit from the Resistance's experience and balance of power with "Israel" since 1982.
He said that Lebanon could not be ruled by the hegemony of any one religious sect, confessional group, party, or movement, adding that the resistance has protected Lebanon and preserved its Christian-Muslim unity.
Saheli said that participants must answer some important questions. "Has "Israel" become a peaceful state? Has it ended its plans for occupation? Is "Israel" satisfied with its water and does not want ours?" he asked.
