Abu Zeinab: We are supposed to discuss the national defense strategy and not Hizbullah΄s weapons
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 15-9-2008
Hizbullah official Ghaleb Abu Zeinab told Orange TV on Monday that the party will listen to anything anyone has to say concerning the national defense strategy, the main topic to be discussed in the national dialogue.
"We are supposed to discuss the national defense strategy and not Hizbullah's weapons," he said. "There is a big difference between the two."
Abu Zeinab said that it is "illusionary" to think that discussing Hizbullah's weapons will change internal balances.
He also commented on a bomb the Lebanese Army found and diffused on Sunday near a church in Lassa, a village in the district of Jbeil. The bomb was found during a mass commemorating the 26th anniversary of the assassination of former Preisdent-elect Bachir Gemayel. Abu Zeinab said that the Lebanese Forces know that neither Hizbullah nor the Free Patriotic Movement would be affected by the incident.
"This will not increase [the LF's] popularity and will not break the link between Hizbullah and the FPM," he said, adding, "[The LF] will lose in the end."
Without naming him, Abu Zeinab warned former MP Fares Soueid, who is to hold a press conference today to explain the incident, not to switch partners in Jbeil and not to implicate Hizbullah in the attempted bombing.
Abu Zeinab also said that Hizbullah agreed with FPM Leader MP Michel Aoun on how to handle the incident, adding that some want to implicate themselves in the matter. He said that some cannot but live in hatred.
"If you read what is published on the Lebanese Forces official website, you feel that there is a war on Lebanon, specifically against Michel Aoun," he said.
