Army Command says it was informed of Syrian decision to deploy troops along border

Army Command said that it had been informed by Syria of the decision to deploy troops to Lebanon's northern border before the operation occurred. Army Command said that Syrian leadership had clarified the practical reasons behind the move.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Army Command said Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji had called his Syrian counterpart, Syrian Army Commander General Ali Habib, who assured him that the Syrian troop deployment was a routine operation, and not cause for alarm.
