Raad: Nasrallah-Hariri meeting to be held soon
Source: nowlebanon.com, 24-09-2008
Loyalty to the Resistance bloc leader MP Mohammad Raad said that the meeting between Hizbullah and the Future Movement at Qoreitem on Wednesday was intended to "strengthen stability and calm political life in Lebanon." He said that nobody had an interest in instigating conflicts, and that Lebanon was a country of partnership, where dialogue must be preserved.
In a press conference after the meeting, Raad said that Hizbullah "had wanted the meeting to occur in the house of the ‘Martyr Rafik Hariri so that direct communication could be revived and stability strengthened....We reaffirm our commitment to the Doha agreement, and our desire to strengthen national solidarity, especially here in the home of a man that helped build this country, along with the requirements of the Resistance and its work."
Raad said that the meeting between Hariri and Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah would happen soon. He said that both parties had their own matters to be dealt with, but that each was determined to calm the country's tensions.
"We started the journey of honesty where each party expresses its approach and view of the situation," Raad said, adding that "when we reach common convictions, all problems will be resolved."
Asked if reconciliation was the only to resolve dispute, Raad said, "I did not talk about reconciliation, I talked about honesty. In fact we have reconciled, what we need is honesty." He said that each party had different points of view, but that dialogue was the final word and the two would continue communicating with each other on the basis of brotherhood and strengthening stability.
