Fadlallah: It is important to calm the political discourse
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 24-9-2008
Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah said that he hoped that reconciliations in Lebanon would be national in character, rather than temporary and for personal purposes. "We still have fears that foreign forces use some gaps in the country to insert their security and intelligence services to revive tensions and conflicts," he said.
Fadlallah said that Lebanon had overcome civil war and sectarian strife in a broad sense, despite lingering problems here and there. He said that it was important to calm the political discourse, and he called on all politicians to be aware of how their words could be portrayed in the media. Fadlallah said that there was an important role for Arab leaders in the reconciliation process, and that Lebanon cannot "breathe" politically and retain its security if relations between some Arab states remained complicated.
