General Qahwaji: Lebanese Army to Remain Solid Away From Political Disputes

Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji confirmed that "the preoccupation of the army at this critical stage is to maintain general stability in the country whether on its southern borders; with the cooperation and coordination of the UNIFIL and the readiness to confront any possible "Israeli" aggression, or on the domestic level; with the cooperation of the security forces".
Following his visit to Lebanese President Michele Suleiman at the head of a delegation of senior military officers, General Qahwaji added, "We believe that this stability is a solid base for any economic, social, or cultural advancement. We also believe that we are able to succeed in meeting our responsibilities as we have succeeded before".
"Our motivation was our firm belief in this country", Commander Jean Qahwaji affirmed.
In the same context, General Qahwaji reconfirmed his confidence in the efforts of the government, led by President Suleiman, to support the army with gadgets, weapons and all means that enable the army to carry out its national duties with what commensurate with the dangers and challenges that beset Lebanon.
Furthermore, he stressed that the army will remain committed to all its values and principles away from any political disputes.
"The army will remain as usual solid and uncompromising in defending Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and independence", Lebanese Army Commander reiterated.
He further addressed Lebanese President with sincere greetings on the 66th anniversary of the Lebanese Army Day.
