Sheikh al-Azhar: Bahraini Events Heartbreaking, Gulf Leaders Must Respond to Their People

Sheikh al-Azhar Ahmad al-Tayeb considered that the Bahraini events are heartbreaking and cause pain in the heart of the whole Islamic nation.
Calling the rulers of the Gulf to "respond to their people's wishes," al-Tayeb demanded that the "Gulf rulers must respond to the desires of their people by interacting with them in all matters raised now."
He advised those leaders to prevent what he called "foreign forces that conspire on the unity of Arab and Islamic peoples."
Al-Tayeb pointed out that "the events in the Gulf have become very alarming and confirm the fears that the Prophet (P.B.U.H) warned of the regarding the stability of the nation."
"They are aiming at agitating the sectarian strife, tribalism and nationalism so that some people are to wave nervousness, sectarian or racist flags which threatens Arab societies and tear the social fabric," he added.
"This also make us warn of the intervention of strong external powers as well as Western and Zionist entity's interference that lead to sectarian conflict, social disruption, domination, and tyranny," al-Tayeb emphasized.
Sheikh al-Azhar concluded that the "current developments are not in favor of anyone.
