Patriarch al-Rai to Hold ME Spiritual Summit Denouncing Violence in the Region
Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai called for "enhancing the dignity of each person, and seeking immunity of Lebanon's sovereignty".
In a speech delivered in the opening ceremony of the 45th Session of the Catholic Patriarch and Bishops Council, al-Rai stated, "We look forward to pastoral and brotherly cooperation, and to dialogue with our Muslim brothers, in order to find solutions to secure a generous coexistence in which justice and equality are available".
Moreover, Patriarch al-Rai revealed his quest to hold a spiritual summit with heads of the Islamic sects in the Middle East.
He added the summit would be held in order to strengthen ties and renounce violence so that some events witnessed in some Arab countries would be solved through positive reforms on the political, social and economic levels, far from any violence, civil war, and intolerance.
Furthermore, Patriarch al-Rai confirmed that the "Youth are the hope of the church, and the future of the Lebanese community".
He hoped that the politicians would train the youth on the love of Lebanon and teach them their responsibilities towards their homeland.
