The main Bahraini opposition party al-Wefaq indicated that the number of employees dismissed by the government is wrong, and does not reflect the true number, believing that this step represents one of the government's attempts to "jump over" the people's rights and the unjust acts against them.

Moreover, in a statement issued, the opposition party clarified that the number of employees dismissed exceeds 375.
The party added in its statement that, according to those enrolled in the General Federation of Bahrain's Trade Union, there are more than 170 employees which are still suspended from work, while more than 275 have already been suspended.
Meanwhile, 826 were affected by the arbitrary actions of the public sector employees. Therefore this means that there are some 2,100 employees of the public sector that were affected due to the illegal government procedures, and not 180 as the government claimed.
Also, al-Wefaq believed that "among the blunders is truncating the subject, for one who seeks to save the country must first recognize the truth (...) and not manipulate the numbers of people affected, or even take advantage of this humanitarian issue for media promotion".

The party pointed out that the "suspensions were procedural and were due to the same reasons and motives that in general were political or sectarian. Therefore it was imposed against a certain sect, and it included more than 4,400 employees from both the public and private sectors".
