Hizbullah-PSP Meet, Syria Bombs Foil Int’l Observers’ Mission
A volcano of blood once against erupted in the Syria, this time at a high rate.
The Syrian situation is crucially vague, as violence strikes every hope of peace and democracy sought via political-diplomatic methods.
The new "bloodiest" blasts hit the Syrian capital's streets, killings tens and injuring hundreds.
The Syrian updates made the front pages of major Lebanese dailies, and so did the expected appearance of Hizbullah Secretary General, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Syria "Terrorist" Blasts... Scores of Victims
Thursday's blasts were considered as the "bloodiest" to be witnessed in Syria since the turmoil erupted in the country. At the Syrian "rush-hour" in Damascus, two suicide bombers blasted two cars, each with a ton of explosives. Victims were everywhere; 55 were killed while some 372 injured.
"Interfering" fingers are pointed at the Syrian Regime, accusing it of conducting the blasts, although briefly after the explosions, the "Abu Obeid Amer bin al-Jarrah Brigade" of the Free Syrian Army, adopted, in a post on its Facebook page, the military operation, al-Akhbar daily reported.
Commenting on the blatant blasts, Head of the UN Observers Mission to Syria, General Robert Mood, in a press statement at the site of the two explosions, urged "all those who stand behind these explosions, whether they are inside Syria or outside, to realize that such explosions cause the Syrians more sufferings." He also stressed that these heinous acts should stop, and the Syrians should be given a chance to go forward in a peaceful direction without any innocents victims, as-Safir daily stated.
For its part, the UN Security Council (UNSC) condemned "terrorist attacks" witnessed in Damascus, and urged all parties to abide by the UN-Arab League envoy, Kofi Annan's plan.

The Syrian official response was declared through Syria's envoy to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, at a session in the UNSC. Al-Jaafari delivered the letter addressed to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, which read, "These escalating crimes confirm that Syria is being subject to a terrorist attack led by affiliations receiving financial and weaponry aid from sides that announced their support to these terrorist crimes, and their encouragement to conduct them," as-Safir daily also indicated.
On another hand, Lebanon remains on the sidelines, supportive to Syria. On this level, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman believed the regular explosions in Syria, killing innocent civilians, is not the right way to achieve democracy.
In a phone-call with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Suleiman believed that "the only way [to achieve democracy] is sitting at the dialogue table to calmly and logically look into modern ways, and achieve a transition to democracy," an-Nahar daily stated.
Moreover, Moscow and Beijing accused some "Foreign" powers of being responsible for the bloody assaults in Syria, confirming that they will not change their stance regarding the crisis, as-Safir daily affirmed.
After talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated, "We call on all sides to stop the violence and cooperate with [Kofi] Annan."
In response to "western" suggestions to send an intensive "armed" observing mission to Syria, under Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, Lavrov reiterated his country's rejection to any military interference in Syria.
Also on this level, Minister Jiechi stressed his country's opposition to any military interference in Syria, calling upon all sides of the conflict in Syria to abide by Annan's plan and conditions of the international observers, as-Safir daily further reported.
On his part, Arab League (AL) Secretary General, Nabil al-Arabi, stressed in a statement that "those who stand behind these attacks are trying to foil the international observers' mission, and to have Syria fall into more violence, murder, and bloodshed," the daily added.
Hizbullah SG in a "Promise Appearance", Hizbullah - PSP Meeting Fruitful
Not far away from "fields" of discussing the Syrian crisis, Thursday night was a blessed night bringing officials from Hizbullah and the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) together. The "dinner" meeting was held at the house of Lebanese Agriculture Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan, in presence of Administrative Development Minister Mohammad Fneish, Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah, Hizbullah Liaison and Coordination official Wafiq Safa. Also present on behalf of the PSP were Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi, Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour, and MP Akram Shehayeb.
In this context, political sources told as-Safir newspaper that the said meeting is part of the regular meetings between both parties, in which both sides share the many points of views, and discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.
Commenting on the meeting, MP Fadlallah confirmed in an interview with al-Akhbar daily, that it came in the natural course of relations between both parties, and happens to be the third in a row.
He added that most of the local and regional files were discussed, especially that Syrian file; where each side has its own stance, and despite the difference, they reached a consensus that "Lebanon should be protected from the Syrian crisis' repercussions," the daily went on to say.
Meanwhile, Hizbullah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is expected to make an appearance via screen in the "WAAD" (Arabic for Promise) ceremony in the Beirut Southern Suburb.
The WAAD Project will be holding a ceremony to finalize its project in rebuilding what the "Israeli" enemy demolished in its July 2006 war on Lebanon.
As-Safir daily expects Sayyed Nasrallah to exclusively tackle the Syrian crisis, especially in light of Thursday's blasts.
