Supreme Leader praises Palestinian resistance

TEHRAN-Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has commended Palestinians' resistance against Zionists crimes as an evidence of their courage and vigilance.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Tuesday in a meeting with visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and called on the Islamic world to support Palestinian people.
The Iranian leader further said that the Islamic world could become a major global power through unity and promotion of all-out cooperation.
"The world of Islam can become a global power through unity and promotion of political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation," the leader stressed.
Criticizing Washington for using force against other countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "Submission to hegemony of world arrogance is the cause of their backwardness."
He praised Jakarta's move at the UN Security Council when the council adopted on March 3 its third resolution under vigorous pressure of Western states, the US in particular, against Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.
Indonesia, a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, was the only UNSC member that abstained in the vote on the Iran resolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the move by Jakarta as a "courageous act."
Referring to NAM as "a symbol of independence" in the world, the leader hoped the movement would achieve its goals.
President Yudhoyono arrived in the Iranian capital Monday afternoon heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation.
During his stay, five documents were signed by Iranian and Indonesian officials on bilateral cooperation.
President Yudhoyono concluded his visit to Iran later in the day.
