A parcel bomb badly wounded an 'Israeli' settler member of a Judeo-Christian sect in a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank, police said on Friday. They said the bomb went off on Thursday as the settler opened the parcel that was purportedly sent for the Jewish religious feast of Purim which began at sunset that day.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld stressed that the blast was a criminal one and not a Palestinian "terrorist attack". Various possible motives were being investigated. The Maariv daily said the family of the young settler, who live in the Ariel settlement, had received threats in the past for Jewish religious extremists who accuse Messianic Jews of proselytism.
