Foreign Interference in Lebanon Slammed
Source: Alalam.ir, 23-4-2008
TEHRAN--Iranian and Syrian foreign ministers condemned Wednesday foreign interference in Lebanon and urged an immediate solution for the crisis in the Meditation country.
At a joint press conference in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Moallem stressed any solution for election of the Lebanese president should emerge within the country and include all political parties.
Lebanon has been without president since Emile Lahoud left his office November 24 last year at the end of his term.
Mottaki told domestic and foreign reporters foreign intervention was one of the factors that hindered a resolution to the crisis in Lebanon.
Reports said on Wednesday Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has assured Syria that the "Israeli" occupying regime is ready to return all of the Golan Heights.
Syria has consistently demanded the return of the whole of the Golan right down to the shores of the Sea of Galilee -- "Israel's" main water source -- as its price for peace.
Answering a question posed by Alalam reporter, Moallem said if the "Israeli" regime returns the occupied Golan Heights then there is no barrier to sit with the regime at the negotiating table.
The "Israeli" regime captured the Golan in the 1967 Middle East war and annexed it in 1981 in a move never recognized by the international community.
