The Tuesday attack killed at least 25 people and injured dozens of others at a vegetable market in Rashidiyah.

Baghdad has seen a dramatic rise in such terror attacks over the past weeks, most of them claimed by the Takfiri Daesh [the Arabic acronym for "ISIS"] terror group.

However, no group has claimed responsibility for the two Rashidiya attacks yet.

In a deadly attack on July 3, nearly 300 people lost their lives after a bomber detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle at a shopping district in the Iraqi capital's Karrada neighborhood. Daesh claimed responsibility for that assault.

The fresh wave of violence in Baghdad prompted Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi to sack a number of high-ranking officials responsible for security in the capital, including the head of the Baghdad Operations Command.

According to the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 662 Iraqis were killed and another 1,457 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in June. A great portion of the fatalities was recorded in Baghdad, where 236 civilians were killed.
