Four US marines killed in Iraq blast
Source: Al-Manar, 04-05-2008
Four US marines were killed in a mine attack in the Anbar province in western Iraq in one of the biggest attacks against the occupation troops in the region in months, the American occupation military said on Sunday.
The marines were in a vehicle which was hit by an improvised explosive device on Friday, the military said in a statement, without specifying the exact location of the attack.
The road side bomb attack came four days after a similar ambush in the province where two US marines were killed and three wounded.
Friday's attack raised the number of US occupation troops killed in Anbar to 1,290 since the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, according to independent website www.icasualties.org, marginally lower than to 1,298 killed in Baghdad.
The number of US occupation casualties in Anbar is nearly a third of the total 4,071 US troops killed in Iraq.
