Kashmir – Rising tensions between Pakistan and India have led to a deadly escalation along the Line of Control [LoC], where intense Cross-Border shelling early Saturday resulted in casualties on both sides.
Civilians continue to suffer as the shelling targeted several districts including Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu. Among the dead was a senior local official, according to reports.
In the north, the border town of Uri in Baramulla district witnessed a significant increase in artillery fire, causing widespread fear and destruction. Several homes were damaged, and injuries among civilians were reported amid the barrage.
Local residents spoke of heavy overnight explosions that rattled entire communities, further intensifying the climate of fear near the LoC.
This latest episode of cross-border aggression highlights the volatility of the region, with Pakistan calling for de-escalation and urging the international community to hold India accountable for repeated ceasefire violations.
Authorities remain on high alert and have urged residents to take all necessary precautions.
