The Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi warned that an abuse of the so-called snapback provisions of the 2015 nuclear deal will have consequences.

“Iran has made its position clear. We have formally warned all JCPOA signatories that abuse of the snapback mechanism will lead to consequences —not only the end of Europe's role in the agreement, but also an escalation of tensions that could become irreversible,” Araqchi said in a message written in French on his X account on Monday.

“The E3 must ask itself how it reached this impasse,” he added.

“Following recent consultations in Russia and China, I expressed my willingness to travel to Paris, Berlin, and London to begin a new chapter. This initiative has led to preliminary discussions at the deputy foreign minister level —a fragile but promising start. But time is running out,” the foreign minister stated.

“How we respond at this crucial moment will determine the future of Iran-Europe relations far more profoundly than many realize. Iran is ready to turn the page. We hope our European partners are too,” he added.
