Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati assured Lebanon's gratitude to France for its ongoing support to Lebanon, and its commitment to Lebanon's safety and sovereignty.

The Prime Minister stressed Thursday in a letter addressed to French President Nicolas Sarkozy "Lebanon is keen on implementing UN resolution 1701 and consolidating the ties between the Lebanese army and foreign troops". Promising to do his best to prevent such attacks from occurring again, the PM reiterated Lebanon's wish to keep French contingent as part of the UNIFIL.

He expressed gratitude for France's continued support of Lebanon's independence and sovereignty."
