Qabbani from South: Army the only Guarantee for Lebanese Unity

During the inauguration of a mosque in Shebaa, Qabbani said: "There is still an opportunity to preserve our unity and coexistence and cooperate to build the future of generations."
Lebanese Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani said Friday that the army is the only state institution that guarantees the unity of the nation, calling for Lebanese support to the military leadership.
Qabbani's call came during a Friday tour to South Lebanon in al-Arkoub and Hasbaya.
"There are many occupied Islamic properties in the farms and Dar al-Fatwa will work with the state to identify these properties and return them to their rightful owners," he said.
Qabbani arrived in a Lebanese army helicopter where the "Development and Liberation bloc" MP Qassem Hashem as well as other figures received him upon his arrival in Marjayoun.
"The army is the only institution that guarantees the unity of our nation Lebanon and if the military falls apart then there would no longer be any Lebanon," he stressed.
Emphasizing that "we should support the military leadership ... to allow the army to salvage the country from permanent dangers," Qabbani confirmed that Justice is the right of every Lebanese and stability is the duty of the state.
"No party is capable or can make claims of imposing its will on the other," he called.
"We want justice for ex-PM Rafik Hariri and we want justice for all the martyrs and Lebanon," he clarified concluding that "justice is wanted and stability is wanted and it is our duty to achieve justice and stability and not lose both."
