Head of Change and Reform Bloc General Michel Aoun revealed details of his Monday meeting with US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly.
On this level, he indicated, "I told her that we are not party to any agreement to fund the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), and if whether we pay or not, the tribunal will remain, and we are not against justice, but we are against funding because there is no justification for that".
In a statement delivered after his weekly bloc meeting, he affirmed that he told Connelly, "We are with the tribunal if it were passed in a constitutional manner. Litigations should process before the Lebanese courts, and when it is passed on to another power, it should receive the consent of the Parliament".
"Moreover, any international agreement must pass by the President and the Parliament".
Aoun clarified to the US Ambassador that "we are not confronting anyone, but the international community confronts us"; stressing that any action against Lebanon will be considered arbitrary and unjust, because it are not bind to funding the tribunal.
On another hand, MP Michel Aoun confirmed the strength of relation between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hizbullah.
