President Michel Suleiman said in an interview with An-Nahar Lebanese daily published on Saturday that chances for restarting the national dialogue discussions are not over yet.
"I call for dialogue for the sake of the national interest and stability," Suleiman said.
"Discussions are continuing with all parties, and if any party proposed positive amendments then I am ready to review them," Suleiman added.
The president said the discussion on the National Defense Strategy included the following dimensions:
1- Executing the resolutions related to Palestinian arms outside and inside camps and resolving the issue.
2- Discussing the resistance arms and how to make use of it in defending Lebanon through practical procedures that answer the questions: when, why, and how is this arms used.
The president also said that he is ready to address the national dialogue with Speaker Nabih Berri. "I am ready to discuss with Berri any new ideas he provides in order to restart the dialogue because he has experience in this field," he added.
Berri said in an interview published on Wednesday that he will contact Suleiman to "call for a national dialogue" to resolve the issue of Lebanon's share of funding for the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
